I found this driver on the Dell website. Apparently it is Dell who keeps putting these cards in our computers with no way of reloading the drivers. Anyway it says it is for a soundblaster but it works perfect for the difficult to find PCI Multimedia Audio Device. Hope it works for you.i had tried everything else on this site and was about to give up.

Hi i have just updated from xp to windows 7 (rtm) and ran into some trouble around my sound card. There's an icon in the bottom right corner (close to the system clock) showing the 'cross' over the speaker icon, informing me that 'no audio output device is installed'. I tried re-installing the driver but wasn't successful. Unfortunately, i'm not even sure what type of sound card my pc has.
It looks like it's built-in on the mother board, which is a ASUS P5GD2-X. In the device manager it's simply listed as 'high definition audio device'.
Does anyone know how i can get this to work? It's really annoying to not have sound. Thank you for your support. Hi Marc, Thank you for visiting Windows Vista Forums.
Please check if the playback device is disabled. To do this, follow the steps below: 1. Please go to Start - Control Panel - Sound. On the Playback tab, right click on the blank place and then click 'Show Disabled Devices'. Check if your playback device is disabled.
If so, right click on it and click Enable. Reinstall the audio device 1. Go to Start, type Device Manager, click on Device Manager to open it. Expand 'Sound, video and game controllers'. Right click on your audio device and then click Uninstall. Check 'Delete the driver software for this device'. After that, restart the computer the device and driver shall be reinstalled automatically.
I'd suggest you installing the audio driver in Compatibility mode. Remove and rescan that hardware device in Device Manager, right-click on the driver executable/installer file - Properties and select the Compatibility tab; click the checkbox before Run this program in Compatibility mode for option and select Windows XP in the list-down box; then try installing the device driver. Meanwhile, please understand that Windows 7 is a new operating system and whole driverstore has been reprogrammed; you might wait for another period of time till the retail version is released and push the vendor company to upgrade their device driver. Please go through the below link. What can I do if my hardware does not work? Hope it is helpful. Regards, Amritha-Microsoft Support.
